Thankful for November (and Justin Tucker)

At the beginning of the season if John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens were told they would not earn their second win of the season until week 8, in the beginning of November, they would have just laughed.

The San Diego Chargers gave the Ravens all they could handle, scoring 26 points and ensuring the game was tight until the end. Phillip Rivers tested the Ravens secondary, passing for over 300 yards and scoring three touchdowns.

Baltimore’s first two drives ended with a score, a 48 and 29 yard field goal by Justin Tucker. The Chargers responded on their first two drives with two field goals of their own. Phillip Rivers and Joe Flacco both found success in the second quarter. Phillip Rivers threw touchdown passes to Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd. Flacco split the two Phillip Rivers passes with a 3 yard dart to Crockett Gillmore. The score at they end of the half was 16-13 San Diego.

Justin Tucker stole the show in the second half kicking three field goals from 45, 48, and 39 yards away. The final field goal was kicked as time expired from the clock. The snap was clean and Tucker rocketed it 39 yards to give the Ravens their second win of the season.  Throughout the course of the game Justin Tucker was the leading scorer with 17 points (5 field goals, 2 extra points). Since coming into the league in 2012, Tucker has attempted 130 field goals and made 114. Tucker has also attempted 127 extra points and made all 127.

The Ravens may have not thought it would have taken this long to earn their second win, but Baltimore sure is thankful for November and Justin Tucker.
