Soon after his good friend and old teammate Cam Spence committed to the University of Maryland, 4-star QB Kasim Hill felt the time was right for him to commit as well.
On April 9th, Kasim Hill chose the Terps over many other schools that were fighting for his talents.
Schools such as Northwestern and Syracuse were right in his ear, but Kasim knew his heart was at home.
“At the end of the day, Maryland was the right fit for me, and I’m really happy with that decision,” Hill said in a phone interview.
When evaluating his options for school, Hill made the conscious decision to not simply take the athletics potential into consideration, but also academics, which is something he values tremendously.
“Maryland has a great undergraduate program in finance where I can also pursue studying something else that I am interested in and get two degrees,” Hill said.
The current St. Johns quarterback had much praise for the new coaching staff at Maryland, singling out head coach D.J. Durkin in particular.
“Coach Durkin is a very passionate man,” Hill said. “He has every player buy into the program and what they are trying to accomplish.”
Durkin has consistently displayed his fire and passion both on and off the field. So far, he is successfully translating that fire to the recruiting realm as well.
Kasim was recently at College Park this past Saturday for the Maryland spring game, and got a good look at his future teammates, coaching staff, and home.
“I’m going to be pushing Maryland to many other recruits and the message that they have an opportunity to come and truly be apart of something special” Hill said.
According to 247sports, the 2017 Maryland recruiting class stands at 26th in the nation, with the Durkin regime scratching the surface.
Get excited Terp fans, Maryland football is on the rise, and guys like Cam Spence and Kasim Hill are leading the charge.
