The Gatorade Company announced Sherwood running back, Travis Levy, and St. John’s (D.C.) quarterback, Kasim Hill, as its high school football Player of the Year’s for Maryland and the District of Columbia on Monday, Dec. 12.
The award recognizes “athletic excellence” as well as “high standards” of academic achievement and “exemplary character” demonstrated on and off the field, according to a press release.
Levy, a 6-foot, 194-pound senior running back verbally committed to Boston College, amassed 1,805 yards and 28 touchdowns on 170 carries in a 10-1 season for Sherwood. He also only fumbled once on 634 career rushes and maintained a 3.43 GPA.
βLevy has a special blend of power and speed that made him a dominant player this year,β said Magruder football coach Ray Fowle in a press release.

Levy joins Jake Funk (2015-16, Damascus High), Dwayne Haskins (2014-15, Bullis School), Taiwan Deal (2013-14, DeMatha Catholic), Kendall Fuller (2012-13, Our Lady of Good Counsel), Cyrus Jones (2011β12, Gilman School), Darius Jennings (2010-11, Gilman School) and Zach Zwinak (2009-10, Linganore High) as recent winners from Maryland.
Hill, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound senior quarterback verbally committed to the University of Maryland, passed for 1,431 yards and 16 touchdowns this past season, leading St. John’s to an 8-4 record and runner-up finish in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. He also completed 115-of-176 passes, rushed for 885 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground and posted a 3.32 GPA.

Hill joins Terrell Hall (2015-16, St. John’s College High School), Richie Petitbon (2014-15, Gonzaga College High School), D’Andre Payne (2013-14, H.D. Woodson High School) as recent winners from the District of Columbia.
Hill and Levy are also finalists for the Gatorade National Player of the Year award that will be voted in Dec.
