DAMASCUS — The Maryland Sports Access high school football preseason tour continued on Wednesday as we visited the campus of Damascus High School to watch the Hornets practice.
Damascus is coming off its second straight 14-0 season in which they topped Franklin in the Class 3A state title game, 14-12. The Hornets have won 41 of its last 42 games, including 28 straight, and are eyeing the three-peat in 2017. Damascus retains four of its five starters on the offensive line — highlighted by Wake Forest commit Michael Jurgens and Division I recruit Jordan Funk — the bedrock that carried them to championship superiority a year ago.
Defensive lineman Bryan Bresee, considered as the top recruit nationally in the Class of 2020, comes over from Urbana to formulate an even more forceful presence up front.

Below, Damascus coach Eric Wallich talks about his early impressions, what to expect on the offense and defense, his thoughts on the newly configured Class 2A West and more.
In addition, Bresee and Jurgens discuss their respective offseasons and heading one of the top trenches in the state.
Be on the lookout for more one-on-one interviews and in-depth previews as the season approaches.
