WALKERSVILLE — The Maryland Sports Access high school football preseason tour continued on Thursday as we visited the campus of Walkersville High School to watch the Lions practice.

Walkersville is coming off a 14-0 state title season in Class 2A and avenged 2015’s state title loss when they lost to Patuxent, 21-20. The Lions return a boatload of starters and contributors from their first state championship season since 1986, including two-year starting quarterback Billy Gant, ball carriers Ty Littleton and Tyler Gleason, wide receiver Josh Polce, do-it-all Jacob Wetzel, lineman Ethan Parrish and 120-plus tackler Christian Policelli.

In addition, eight starters return on defense, the same nucleus that didn’t allow more than eight points a game last year.
