The high school winter sports season can be a tiring trek.
It lasts from late November to the beginning of March. And if you account offseason workout programs, it’s even longer.
Take a moment and pat yourself on the back, because the playoffs are less than a week away. After two and a half months of high school basketball in the books, and hustling around the state to scout the region’s top talent, it’s time to break down what’s been uncovered and look into the crystal ball as the postseason is on the horizon.
In each classification I’ve predicted a state champion, regional contenders and darkhorses and with my regional champion I added confidence scale to gauge the certainty.

4 — Let’s just say I’d be stunned if this team didn’t win their region
3 — Likely to make it out of the region, but slippage and/or losing to a contender wouldn’t be shocking
2 — Contenders are right on their heels; one hiccup could be detrimental
1 — Complete toss-up. Someone has to make it out of each region, so why not them?
