National Hoopfest, established in 2011 as the Penny Hardaway Classic, is considered as one of the top high school basketball showcase events nationally. Over six years, the tournament has hosted 10 events, including Memphis, Las Vegas and Tampa. A 2015 game featuring Oak Hill Academy versus Hamilton High School (Memphis) was ESPN’s highest rated high school game of the year, reaching nearly six million viewers. The tournament has produced over 100 Division I scholarship athletes, including five NBA lottery picks.

This year, the National Hoopfest stop in the metropolitan area attracts some of the best locally and in the country. Luckily for you, MSA has it covered with recaps, stories, updates on recruits and more. Here’s your one-stop shop:

Jared Bynum leads No. 9 Georgetown Prep to staple win against Pa. power Westtown

Cameron Reddish has the talent & ability to be No. 1 in 2018. Consistency has held him back. Today he looked like he wants the top spot. 34 on 12-for-23 shooting. 6-for-10 from 3. As good as I’ve seen him.

USA Today Top 25 match-up: No. 11 Paul VI (Va.) 75, No. 21 Weslyean Christian (N.C.) 68

Was really impressed with @CleanSlaaate_ (@NovaMBB) today. The 5-star had 24 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists & 2 blocks in big win over @usatodayhss-ranked Weslyean Christian. Great frame. Dangerous in transition. Will instantly thrive under @VUCoachJWright #DMVhoops

Paul VI, powered by Brandon Slater’s 24 points, dug out of an early deficit to down Weslyean Christian on Saturday night at DeMatha Catholic High School, 75-68.

The Panthers were down 14-3 off the bat, but outscored the North Carolina power 30-18 the rest of the first half to take a 33-32 lead into the break. Weslyean Christian regained control going into the final frame, 52-49, before Paul VI sealed the win with a 26-16 fourth quarter.

Paul VI sophomore Jeremy Roach keeps getting better. Love his approach and competitiveness. Tough kid. Making plays down stretch here at National Hoops Festival.

Aaron Wiggins (Maryland) paced Weslyean Christian, which shot 56.5 percent (26-for-46), with a game-high 25 points on 11-for-19 shooting.

@DeMathaHoops’ 5-star, 7’1″ center Hunter Dickinson is the real deal. Offensively skilled: An array of back-to-basket moves & a jumper that makes defenses pay. A plus defender & passer, too. Had 12pts, 6asts, 5rebs in 20 mins. One scout called him a “10-year starter in the NBA.
