Every Monday, MSA compiles the top boys’ basketball teams in the state and ranks them 1-25 based on résumé and talent.
After two wins over the Holiday break and a DeMatha loss, Gonzaga (D.C.) is our new No. 1. The Stags, St. Frances, Mount St. Joseph and St. John’s (D.C.) round out the top five.
Decatur, after losing two games by a combined 82 points, falls out of the Top 25 and Boys’ Latin (10-2) enters.
Records and statistics are through Sunday.
Note: The only Washington, D.C. teams in the MSA coverage zone are Archbishop Carroll, Gonzaga and St. John’s, because the three are minutes from Maryland and compete in the WCAC, one of the top leagues in the nation. Additionally, many Maryland athletes play for the Cadets, Eagles and Lions. We don’t cover Virginia teams in the WCAC.
